Total War: SHOGUN 2 App Reviews

no problems here. great game

I’ve been a total war fan for years. It is the most addicting game ever. “Just one more turn" is what you’ll be saying for hours. This new one is probably the coolest total war game yet. The japanese art design is a really nice touch. It doesn’t look as ugly as the previous games. I played for several hours yesterday and didn’t encounter any problems. The graphics settings are on medium or so for my 2011 macbook pro. It looks good to me.

Engaging Strategy Game

For people who say the game crash, it probably has to do with your computer. Shogun runs great on my computer, no lagging, no glitches. But I do have a top of the line Mac, so that’s probably why. For the game itself, it’s fun. I’ve already spent countless hours playing. It is quite complicated, though, and I feel like I have a lot to learn before I’m good at campaigning. And it definitely gets more challengening to handle as the number of provinces you have grows. Overall, this is a great product. Definitely recommend if you’ve got the right computer to handle it.

Runs Perfectly

Great game. Runs very good on my mac.

Crashes, Crashes everywhere

i was supper excited to get this game i have all the total war games you can get on mac so when it came time to purchase the game i read the reviews and saw how many people said it would crash for them I should have listened every time i simply open the game and try to select any type of game mode CRASH!!!!! and now im stuck wilth a $50 waste of space on my computer i should have listned to the people that said not to buy it

HATE how Multiplayer isn’t allowed on Mac Store version. Graphics lag

WHY is this the case Feral? I don’t understand. Is this your way of punishing consumers who choose to buy directly from Apple instead of Steam/Feral’s site? It’s sickening. The game itself is great but this policy is absurd. Way to taint an absolutely amazing series for Mac gamers! WARNING: If you’re going to buy this version, purchase it for the awesome offline gameplay. I know I will anyways. ****UPDATE**** Don’t understand why the game doesn’t run well at all on my system. I have the top of the line, late 2013 15” MBP Retina. 16GB of RAM, 512GB SSD, i7 2.6GHZ processor, and an Nvidia GeForce 750M video card with 2GB of VRAM. If this game isn’t supported on one of Apple’s top of the line models and video cards, which Mac can it run on? I really want to hear from Feral Interactive on this. It’s sometimes unplayable. I’ve been able to play Empire: Total War just fine on this rig, what gives with this performance? It must come down to drivers and OpenGL. It might not be as good as DirectX but this port is lousy in terms of optimization. Wouldn’t you have tested this game on a similar rig compared to mine? I do highly intensive graphic work on this machine (I work in Media) and I know my computer isn’t the source of the issue. What is it?

Great! Must buy for strategy enthusiast

Have played almost all of the Total War games both on PC and Mac even the original Shogun Total War. This is the best one thus far. If you have an older Mac like I do (2011) then the game may run a bit sluggish. I found that once I doubled my RAM (4 to 8 GB) the game ran perfectly on High settings. The game has never crashed and I’ve played through both the main campaign and Rise of the Samurai.

Fun game, BUT CRASHES!!!

The game crashes randomley, which is very annoying. I orignally thought when I do auto battle it crashes, but now even moving an army causes it to crash. You can’t really play the game. Sometimes you can play for many season, but sometimes it crashes repeatedly, and you haver to start the game all over again, but don’t do the next move you did last time, because it will surely crash! If they fix the bugs, it is a fun game to play. My advise is don’t buy it until they release the next update, which hopefully fixes the bugs. My computer way passes the minimum requirement: i5, 2.6GHz, 1024mb video card. So it has nothing to do with computers specs as some of the reviews suggest. I have even set the settings to lowest graphic as possible. I don’t know who is putting the 5 star reviews. I’m annoyed that I spend $50 for a game that doesn’t work.

Crashes all the time

Save your money, don’t buy. It crashes all the time.

Playable!!!

I know first releases from Feral are usually unplayable but they did a great job with this one. Read the required hardware before purchasing to ensure it works! I’ve played now for over 20 hours and their are some rare bugs, if you encounter them, they can kill your current game completely unfortunately, but these bugs are rare. If they can work these bugs out, great, but the game is playable 95% of the time, so they may be left in the game. (Referencing other games from Feral, never perfect, but they get the game playable/4 Star Average Review before you don’t see anything further updates on the game)

Impressive addition to Total War

I’ve been playing for a week and have not experienced any crashes, glitches, or errors (as other reviewers have claimed). My Macbook Pro is late a Late 2011 model with 16GB memory. Gameplay is smooth as expected. I’ve been playing Total War since the first installment of Shogun many years ago. Shogun 2 exceeded my expectations. It’s satisfactorily challenging. Balances between tactical battlefield environments to campain strategy (economic and diplomatic). The AI is battle is greatly improved upon Empire Total War and Napoleon. My only complaint is the economic resource of food surplus, it doesn’t seem like a very intuitive model. I’m not sure yet how to take advantage of it besides neglecting chi attributes to research and upgrade farms in order to build markets and castles without a revolt from food shortages. It doesnt make sense to me.

Excellent Game

I’m surprised to hear about all the crashing issues: this game runs much better on my Mac than it ever did on my PC. Granted I have this year’s iMac with a current video card, but I’ve had no crashes and fairly responsive loading screens and zooming during combat. It’s a blast to play - very addictive. My only request is for the ‘Fall of the Shogun’ xpac! Cannon battles are literally a blast.

Total war

ThIs game is awesome.By the way ,we can pick up the japanese in this game .That is no doubt this is the best strategic game .

CRASHES

According to the description above, my computer easily meets the minimum requirements. When I try and open it, it says “Sorry your computer does not meet minimum requirements, continue anyway?” I continued, and the game crashes right after I choose my clan. It might be a great game but I can’t play it. I have a 2011 Macbook pro with 4GB RAM, 2.7GH Processor, 512MB Graphics, and plenty of free space,

I feel cheated

I just spent $50 on this game and it doesn’t even work. My computer meets the requirements, but after the cutscene for the campaign my game quits every time. I can see other people are having this issue and it would be great if it could be fixed soon because this is just a huge rip-off, don’t waste your money on this until they fix it.

Not Bad

Took forever to download, but overall it’s a good game. Not as good as Empire Total War, but enjoyable. I found that the game got repetitive after a while, with little distinction between the clans over time, thus making you loose interest after a couple hours. The Rise of the Samurai really isn’t that awesome of an add-on, it just adds the Genpei Wars into the mix (just like the regular campaign, but takes place in the 12th century instead of the 16th). Knowing what I know now, if given the option to buy this game again, I’d give it a miss. But that’s just my opinion. Graphics were a bit disappointing as well, my mac (desktop) is fully up to date, but couldn’t play the game on the ultra graphics setting. So keep that in mind. If you like Japanese history though you’ll probably enjoy this game.

Wonderful game!

This game is one of the best Total War games I have played so far! It is beautiful and very well crafted. I do wish they would have included the Fall of the Samurai pack but mabye that will happen in the future. I also wish that multiplayer was included ut as the game does not have many Mac players it is understandable. Still 5 stars!

Not compatible with new OS Yosemite!!!

Campaing mode crashes 1 min after playing the game(does it every time, i tried like 20 times), it happend after the new OS Yosemite update, before the update the game worked!!! Try it if you don’t believe me!!!! There is no way to uninstall the update, someone please help!!! This is not right!!! I have a late 2012 Mackbook Pro Retina 13in ,8GB RAM with Intel HD 4000

DO NOT BUY THIS!!!

I spend about 3 hours downloading it only to find out that the game will not even start. Apparently other users have the same issue, but there is no mentioning of start-up issues or anything similar on the support site. It is inexplicable to me why this faulty software is still sold on the app store.

Game is broken after upgrading to Yosemite

Great game that is broken after updating OS to Yosemite. Crashes every 5 minutes.

Would be awesome if I could play it

Let me start with the fact that I meet all a min system requirements yet despite that I cant even begin to play that game it crashes everytime I try to start the campaign Feral needs to get on point and fix this crashing issue as well as a few others if they expect people to buy the game so until they do I recommend to any possible buyers not to waste the money until they fix it Ive been a huge fan of the total war series for a long time since the first Shogun but this is a real dissapointment since I havnt been able to even play it
